A Flexible and Efficient Approach to Access
Lymington, UK—The Harken Access Winch offers a powerful and super lightweight solution for lifting, lowering, and holding loads in access and mobile back-country situations. Using an ultra-efficient and balanced action, similar to that used in cycling, one person can lift up to 500 kg (1103 lb). Two different power ratios provide for either quick lifting of lighter loads or a greater mechanical advantage for heavier loads.
"Reel winches are limited by the size of the spool and the fact that you must use the integrated cable or rope, rather than one that may already be secured to the load. Capstan winches are prone to slippage and require two people for safe operation," explains Product Manager Syd Millman. "Harken's Access Winch has none of these tradeoffs—a single person can winch in an unlimited length of any suitable rope, and the winch's self-tailing mechanism safely and automatically secures the load."
Access Winches have a unique rope grip that reduces problems with overrides while allowing loads to be lowered in a smooth and controlled manner. The sculpted drum extends rope life because it doesn't wear the rope like an abrasive surface. A combination of tough composites, stainless steel, and bronze components make Access Winches strong, durable, corrosion resistant, and lightweight.
